The medieval tower rises in Via Torricella, right along the left bank of the Meschio river (coordinates: 45.94753670411089, 12.422625996246271).
In the past it served as a Balestriera; from the mid-16th century, the Torricella was built before the Republic of Venice conquered Friuli in 1420. From the mid-16th century, as a defensive tower, the Torricella was recognized as a Balestriera.
The presence of two mullioned windows on the east and south sides of the ancient building suggests that the Torricella (in dialect Toresela), conceived as a defensive military structure, was later converted into a dwelling.
Set in the radiant rural landscape of Cordignano, marked by lush vineyards, thriving hedges and cornfields, the Torricella is one of the most fascinating historical and cultural landmarks of Cordignano.
