From Saint John’s herb to stories of witches

The Night of Saint John is a magical time of year that brings together ancient traditions, beliefs and rituals.
Starting from the hypericum plant, known as “Saint John’s herb”, and moving on to stories of witches and spells, we will take a journey through history accompanied by two distinguished speakers:
Claudio Rotaro will illustrate the “Rite of Saint John’s water”, its origins, functions and how it is performed;
Mauro Fasan will talk to us about witches and “witchcraft” as reported in the documents of the Holy Office from the 16th and 17th centuries.
We look forward to seeing you on FRIDAY 23 JUNE, with the following programme:
– 8:00 pm welcome
– 8:15 pm guided visit of the Bosco
– 8:45 pm start of the meeting; ancient rituals will be illustrated and performed again
