Vandalized the Small Church of San Giovanni Battista in Pero di Breda di Piave
The external walls of the oratory of San Giovanni Battista in Pero di Breda di Piave were smeared with spray paint. On August 23, a report of the act of vandalism was sent to the mayor of Breda di Piave.
On the facade, to the left of the wooden door, the word “ALBY” stands out, flanked by the stylized image of a person in gold spray paint. To the right, you can read the writing “PERO” in gold letters and other letters in silver paint that are less visible.
The entrance and the plaque of the Alpini group of Pero were dirtied with gold, silver, and red paint.
The side walls of the place of worship bear caricatural, grotesque, and vulgar images and symbols.
History of the Small Church of San Giovanni Battista
Built in 1110, the oratory stands in the evocative rural setting of Pero di Breda di Piave, flanked by the placid course of the Musestre.
Built on a pre-existing sacellum, the single-nave oratory is characterized by a simple and bare gabled facade. The wooden portal is surmounted by a small window above which can be seen the relief of a white cross.
One of the most distinctive elements of the building is the charming bell tower, topped with an octagonal spire crowned with a metal cross. Four biforas, one on each side of the bell chamber, allow a glimpse of the bells.
