Today we debunk the myth that young people don’t know the dialect. I Rumatera are proof: a musical group of the Californian punk genre, but one that exploits the eccentricity and traditionality of the Venetian dialect.
A bizarre combination? Well, read a bit about their story and the information we’ve found about them; these guys are worth keeping an eye on even for those who don’t love the genre. Word from Veneto Club.
Rumatera: Who are they?
The band Rumatera has over 400 live concerts to their credit, a truly significant number, especially considering the group was formed in 2007.
The idea comes from Daniele Russo, Giorgio Gozzo, Luca Perin and Giovanni Gatto, tosi de campagna (country boys) who want to convey their way of being, sincere and not influenced by the media or the like, through their most beloved musical genre: Californian punk.
The combination of merging this style of music with the Veneto dialect was a winning idea and was greatly appreciated. Could it be precisely because of this union that Rumatera have conveyed their genuineness?
Since 2008, six albums have been released: Rumatera, My Crew, also translated into English and taken to America, 71 Gradi, La Grande V, Xente Molesta and Awanti coi ammicci.
Great public success; the stories told in the songs concern the lives of “normal” young people from the provinces, capable guys with a great passion, that of music, and especially well-made music that knows how to entertain, unite, and make people dance.
Rumatera have also collaborated with streetwear brands like Circa and Insight, presented one of their albums on Radio Deejay, hosted a local TV show, represented Italy at the prestigious international festival “Envol et Macadam” in Canada, in Quebec City.
There are countless appearances and achievements of this Veneto group; to learn more about them, visit their website and listen to them, especially live.
