Murano
Murano is perhaps the most famous of the 3 islands, due to the eponymous glass known worldwide. This is also the largest of the 3 and you can also watch demonstrations of the precious glassworking. The urban layout is similar to that of Venezia but with a more rustic and airy tone, there are fish markets and of course many souvenirs.
Burano
Burano is characteristic for the truly vibrant coloring of its houses: a succession of colored tiles that keep the eye engaged throughout the visit. There’s no doubt about it, here joy is at home and a visit is a must also to Casa di Bepi Suà, the most colorful house on the island on Calle del Pistor. A crowning glory of the island are also the laces, appreciated in the many artisan shops.
Torcello
It is the most rustic and wild island of the 3, but rich in monuments and sites to visit. Among these the Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta, a magnificent example of Byzantine Gothic and rich in mosaics. Also worth a visit is the Ponte del Diavolo, famous for not having a parapet.
