The festival features live music by national and international bands whose genres range from Folk to Rock to Metal. In the large food areas you can sample food and wine specialties, including options for vegans, vegetarians and celiacs. Naturally, there will also be taps with craft beers, mead, cider, hippocras, cocktails, soft drinks and water.
Stretching along the grave del Piave in Via Bortolina, in San Michele di Piave, the vast grassy area where Feffarkhorn takes place hosts more than 40 craft stalls every year, forming the themed market of the evocative revival of Celtic history and culture.
Waiting for you there will be workshops full of wooden, leather and iron изделия made by expert artisans, traveling wine cellars, mysterious tents of druids and alchemists lit by medieval braziers, inns where you can enjoy mugs of mead and hearty dishes fit for a king. Making the atmosphere even livelier and more engaging will be musical performances with drums and bagpipes, the ritual lighting of the sacred fire (scheduled for Friday 8 September at 7:15 pm) among torches and natural incense, as well as a camping area to fully experience the mystical and timeless atmosphere of the much-awaited late-summer Celtic festival.
What does Feffarkhorn mean?
Feffarkhorn is the Cimbrian term used to indicate the Mazariol, a magical woodland creature that the Venetian folk tradition describes as a solitary goblin with a wrinkled face and often stern expression, a long beard and gray hair. Dressed in red, the Mazariol wears a cloak, a red hat and pointed shoes.
According to legend, during Attila’s invasions, this little forest spirit would have managed to defeat the Huns by blowing on the fires of their camps, setting their hides alight, disturbing the soldiers’ sleep by pulling their hair, overturning pots and cauldrons with their rations, and tangling the tails of their steeds together.
Characterized by a cheeky and mischievous nature, Feffarkhorn is very powerful and is able to cast dangerous spells to ensnare the senses and bend its victims to its will.
Anyone who, out of spite or carelessness, stepped on its tiny footprints fell prey to its sorcery and was forced to follow its traces in a state of hypnosis. Once the unfortunate visitor reached the creature’s cave, he became its servant. On other occasions, the Mazariol tricked those who hunted it by making them lose their bearings and abandoning them in the middle of the woods. From this comes the saying “No cascar ‘entro te le peche (footprints) del Mazariol“.
