Doing an excursion to Venezia while skimming the water is possible thanks to SUP excursions.
But what is it about and how to try?
“Venezia is always Venezia… but on a SUP it is definitely not the usual Venezia!” So describes this truly unique experience Eliana Argine of the Surf Club Venezia. This is a non-professional sports association affiliated with ACSE PGS offering the opportunity to visit Venezia while skimming the water, navigating through the small canals of the historic center to also discover places far from mass tourism. The use of the SUP is certainly synonymous with eco-friendly and alternative tourism, capable of pleasing even the most diverse tourists, regardless of age.
But what is SUP?
SUP which stands for Stand Up Paddle is performed using a special board and a paddle to move and maneuver on the water. The SUP is defined as the meeting point between Surfing and Canoeing: from the former it takes the characteristic of moving on the water surface while standing on a board, while from canoeing it inherits the paddle, an oar used while standing.
This discipline can be practiced by anyone, from lovers and professionals of other water sports to simply curious people and enthusiasts of new things. Tourists in Venezia will find it a truly new and eco-friendly way to visit the city and also get some exercise.
The SUP board differs from the traditional surfboard in its large size, ensuring greater stability, and with the help of the paddle you can navigate safely even if you are not experienced in these sports.
The SUP can also be practiced wherever there is a water surface, from the calmest like canals and lakes to the livelier ones like the sea or rivers.
