Where and when does the 2021 Edera Film Festival take place?
The third edition of Edera Film Festival will take place from July 28 to July 31, 2021 at Cinema Edera, in Via A. Radaelli, 14, 31100 Treviso (TV).
The cultural initiative of the International Film Festival under 35, created to enhance what critic, poet and writer Ricciotto Canudo (1877-1923) defined as the seventh art, was born in 2018 thanks to the commitment and collaboration of the Associazione Culturale Orizzonti and Multisala Edera.
The event program is organized to give space to short films, feature films and documentaries directed by talented emerging directors in the national film landscape.
The event is designed to express and illustrate reflections on today’s society, highlighting its contradictory aspects through original and innovative films from different countries: Italy, France, Belgium, Turkey, North Macedonia, United Kingdom, Russia, for a total of thirty films.
The participants in the competition of Edera Film Festival 2021
As indicated during the Festival press conference on July 13, the event includes the participation of directors who were also present at previous editions, such as Nathalie Biancheri, who this year will present her first feature film, Nocturnal, and Francesco D’Ascenzo with his film Qualcosa Rimane, to whose creation Carla Fracci, recently deceased, contributed.
In addition to promoting foreign artists, the festival has helped discover several directors from the Veneto region, such as Alessandro Padovani with the film Movida, Alessandra Gonnella with A Cup of Coffee With Marilyn, winner of the Cortinametraggio Award for best short film, Alessia Bottone with La Napoli di mio padre.
Among established directors, the third edition of the festival will see the participation of Emanuele Pisano with L’oro di famiglia, nominated for the David di Donatello, and Giovanni Gaetani Liseo, co-director of Gabriele Salvatores in the film Italy in a Day as well as creator of the documentary La patente.
Out-of-competition films
Among the out-of-competition films, the event includes the short film by Giulio Danieli: Hunters – Global Pandemic, a sci-fi thriller released on March 31 last year, set in an apocalyptic scenario where a terrible disease has wiped out 90% of the world’s population. It will be up to the hunters, hired by governments, to carry out the disturbing task of eliminating the remaining infected.
Simone Pazienza presents his creation I passi per la vita, a touching short film that highlights the issues, unfortunately often unheard, that affect people with disabilities in the process of integration into the workplace. Social and professional integration represent obstacles that can be overcome thanks to determination, solidarity, collaboration and awareness.
Tre visi, directed by Stefano Pesce, tells the story of the magical city of Treviso through the story of three women from three different generations, one of whom, Augusta Casagrande from Pio Luogo di Corbanese, was a real-life dowser.
The common thread of the exciting short film is water, a life-giving element that flows through and characterizes the soul of the ancient city of Treviso. The cast includes Alice Gina Stiebitz, Fiorenza Brogi, Pierpaolo Spollon, Sandra Toffolatti, Alessandro Brer.
Interesting news was presented during the press conference by the Artistic Directors Gloria Aura Bortolini, reporter, photographer, filmmaker who handles the documentary section,
Giuseppe Borrone, historian and film critic, author of the Dizionario del nuovo cinema napoletano, will handle the presentation of short films.
Presenting the feature films will be Sandro Fantoni, manager of Multisala Edera, the splendid cinema inaugurated on September 1, 1960 and still considered a reference point for its sensitivity in selecting films for screening and for its welcoming and comfortable environment that, in some respects, makes it more like a charming theater than a multiplex.
Where can I find the 2021 program of the Edera Film Festival?
