Who doesn’t know Chef Rubio? The eclectic former rugby player who works wonders in the kitchen? Well, the reruns of his colossal shows Unti e Bisunti and E’ uno Sporco Lavoro are broadcast on various TV networks and social media: here’s what the Chef has been up to in Veneto.
But who is Chef Rubio?
The charming and hungry Chef Rubio, whose real name is Gabriele Rubini, is a former rugby player, a chef even at home and now a TV host. Among his most beloved shows we mention Unti e Bisunti, where traveling all over Italy, in addition to tasting local delicacies, he engages in ultimate sauté challenges with local folkloric characters, village chefs and holders of titles and regional recipes handed down through generations.
E’ Uno Sporco Lavoro is the other TV series starring Chef Rubio, who for quite some time has cut his iconic upward-turned mustache that introduced him to the public. In this series Rubio finds himself having to perform the most tiring, dirty and hard jobs in Italy, accompanied by those who really do these jobs every day, and he can testify to what lies behind forgotten tasks that we often don’t even imagine exist.
Take a peek at him on Instagram too
Chef Rubio naturally has an Instagram profile, truly unique in its kind and capable of telling all the facets of this eclectic 34-year-old with a “from Frascati” accent. Improbable but fantastic photo montages, capable of cheering even the darkest days, videos both serious and full of advice as well as hilarious and over-the-top, fantastic photos of foods, civilizations and distant lands that make you dream and reflect. Chef Rubio is all this and much more, but what has he been up to in Veneto?
The hard jobs in Venice, after a succulent challenge in Chioggia
In the second series of Unti e Bisunti, Chef Rubio had delighted us with a challenge in Chioggia, with a rain of radicchio and strange encounters, it’s truly mouth-watering. We invite you to rewatch the Veneto episode.
It doesn’t end here between Chef Rubio and the Veneto region; in fact, in the latest season of E’ Uno Sporco Lavoro, we see Rubio trying various jobs in Venice and around the Lagoon. Among repairing the masegni, the typical stone slabs of St. Mark’s Square, various cleaning of canals and drains, and collecting fishing worms, we are shown all the behind-the-scenes of one of the symbol cities of Italian art, which to stay beautiful also needs these dirty and hard jobs. And what can we say, will Rubio have a fond memory of Veneto? We ask him.
